We took a nice break after our 6-month escape through Europe and Asia but the wanderlust started kicking in so back to Europe, we went! This time, two sprawling cities just waiting to be explored – London and Berlin.
London was chaotic, glamorous and historic – everything we love in a city. It reminded us a lot of NYC, our hometown, but with more class and sophistication. The buildings were grand and authentic with such details our eyes just couldn’t look away. We lived in an Airbnb in Soho, which is a great, central neighborhood to be in. We were able to walk to many sites and the tube was minutes away. Dish out for a nice stay but be prepared, London is incredibly expensive. We took a day trip out to see Stonehenge and the town of Oxford as well as the Warner Brothers Studios in Leavesden (highly recommend it for any Harry Potter fans!).
Berlin was quite different from London and our first impressions were not altogether great. Though, we learned that what it lacked in architectural charm, Berlin made up for with its people. Berliners (the people, not the doughnuts) are incredibly friendly and open-minded, though at first come across as intimidating. We quickly learned that they love to have a conversation and can recommend hundreds of places to visit from just about any category or interest. The city is full of weekend events, concerts and meet-ups, making it an amazing city in which to be young and single!

A young couple enjoying an outdoor concert. See this same photo shot with a 100-year old camera!

The view outside our hotel room. Not the prettiest, but very practical – typical to the area’s architecture.

And on this trip, I learned just how hard bubbles are to photograph. Especially when they’re barreling towards you!
