A quick road trip through history and a rare glimpse of our own country.
The US as a country is not old by any standards. We’ve been to temples, ruins and even restaurants hundreds and thousands of years older than the country we call home. Nevertheless, touring a fragment of the States was illuminating. We rarely venture out of our metropolitan tristate area so a quick trip through New England was a welcome change of pace. And not having to line up at the airport security lines was a bonus!
During this short trip, we managed to see Boston and Martha’s Vineyard (in Massachusetts) plus Providence and New Port (in Rhode Island).

Whale watching trip in the Boston Harbor. Nearby boats joined us on our chase for a glimpse of the gigantic mammals.

Radars allowed us to track the whales and experts on board knew when to expect them to emerge by the funnels of bubbles they created underwater. An ingenious trap for their prey. We saw mostly tales, but they were spectacular, nonetheless.

Skywalk Observatory. I’ve got a small collection of photos with different models of binoculars. It’s always interesting to see different styles and the vistas they look out onto.
Newport and Providence, RI

Providence, RI – looking like a storybook town. This was taken from a window of a Starbucks at a mall located a few stories above ground allowing for these perfectly straight buildings and river views.

I loved the contrast of this little girl’s dress against the dark patch of trees and green leaves. I edited the photos slightly to accentuate that.
